No tour of Salt Lake City is complete without a visit to the City Creek Center, a charming and elegant retail and dining destination with over a hundred shops and restaurants to sample and explore. A retractable glass ceiling keeps visitors comfortable in all kinds of weather. Watch out for the creek that winds its way through the shopping center. Families and dogs are welcome.

City Creek’s central location is one of its draws, it’s just a step away from Salt Lake’s invigorating arts scene. The Salt Palace Convention Center, the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art, and Abravanel Hall concert hall are all right across the street, and performing arts venues the historic Capitol Theater and cutting-edge Eccles Theater are both within walking distance. City Creek Center also neighbors the monuments, museums, and visitor centers of the LDS Church’s Temple Square, where you can learn about the religious elements of Utah’s history and culture.

Space enthusiasts young and old will find plenty to enjoy in Salt Lake City at the Clark Planetarium, with three floors of interactive exhibits exploring the wonders of our world, the solar system, and the universe beyond. A visit to Clark Planetarium’s gigantic Orbital ATK IMAX theater or Hansen Dome Theater will make your stay even more memorable. While the IMAX screens the latest IMAX 3D films and documentaries, the Hansen dome theater curves over the audience for captivating star shows, offering two different ways to immerse yourself in the beauty of the galaxy. At night, the Hansen Dome theater comes alive with exciting cosmic light shows that combine classic rock with spectacular visuals.

There’s no shortage of things to see and do surrounding the Clark Planetarium because it’s located at The Gateway, an open-air shopping, dining, and entertainment destination with a movie theater and over a hundred restaurants and stores. Don’t forget to check out the Olympic Legacy Plaza with its choreographed fountain jets, commemorating the Salt Lake City’s 2002 Winter Olympic Games. Other Gateway highlights include Discovery Gateway, a children’s museum where young visitors can learn through play, and concert venue The Depot. Gateway is also across the street from the Vivint Smart Home Arena, Salt Lake City’s premier stage for concerts and sporting events.
